Green meadows, embedded in a fantastic mountain landscape between forests, lakes, hills, with a wonderful mountain panorama and fantastic sea views in the background offer you the best conditions for playing golf.

Madeira and Porto Santo have three golf courses together - "Palheiro Golf" with 18 holes and "Santo da Serra" with 27 holes and on the neighboring island "Porto Santo" with 18 holes. The courses are demanding.

Club de Golf "Santo da Serra" was recently awarded the 3rd best golf course in Portugal by the Rolex Worlds Top 1000 Golf Courses.

The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., a leading golf course designer in the world, as another golf masterpiece. The 27 holes are surrounded by breathtaking views of the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean is a constant companion during the round of golf. Three different 9 - hole combinations "Machico" "Desertas" and "Serras" challenge the golfer's heart again and again.

Designed by Cabell Robinson and opened in 1993, this 18-hole, par 72 is a challenge of a special kind. Fast, undulating greens, narrow fairways and a variety of well-placed bunkers all demand a precise game.

Porto Santo is worth a trip from Madeira for a day with the ferry "Porto Santo Line". Severiano Ballesteros, Golf Champion, has designed the course. In October 2004, the 18 - hole course was opened. It covers two fantastic game areas, with rocks in the north and lakes in the south. The club is located near the beautiful Porto Santo beach and borders an extensive tennis court and equestrian center.
